Develop Creative Resilience
“If I only had an hour to chop down a tree, I would spend the first 45 minutes sharpening my axe.”
Artists naturally face a good amount of intensity in their lives as they create and put their art out into the world. And most of the time they do the best they can, but they know they are often wasting time, and getting lost in their unhelpful patterns.
I help creatives grow by giving them a clear roadmap to working with their body and mind to develop resilience. I have dedicated my career to understanding why you are overwhelmed, frustrated, and stuck, and how you can rise to the challenge of being a creative, and unstoppable!
When you get clear about your disruptive patterns, you naturally respond to them differently, and you can start to interrupt them.
Understanding our patterns is the quickest and most sustainable way to make meaningful change. This clarity allows you to be less reactive to the natural stressors of life, and rise to the challenges of making and sharing your art with a loyal following.
When artists get clear on their personal growth they see big changes in the amount of time and energy its takes them to do difficult things. They begin to see themselves more clearly and get more intentional about their career. As a result they save years of wasted time stalled in their process!
Q&A
Why is being an artist so hard?
Since art is an expression of the person making it, being an artist requires a deeper level of self-awareness than most other careers. This kind of personal awareness and growth naturally stirs up a lot of frustrations in the person, and they can easily get stuck in their reactions and destructive habits.
I love creating, why can’t I stay motivated?
People often link motivation with passion, but what I’ve found is that artists can be very passionate about their art, and still find themselves unmotivated in the process of creating and sharing it. This is most often a result of not knowing how to navigate the deep waters of stress that come with being an artist. As you get clear on your invisible processes, and push yourself to show up differently you will experience increased motivation and energy for change.
Why am I so overwhelmed as a creative?
One of the main reasons artists feel especially overwhelmed is because the process of creating and sharing art leads to them getting a lot of feedback - welcomed and not welcomed! This pushes them to develop a stronger sense of self than most, so that they can face that feedback (which can be very difficult) and make important decisions in their careers. Feeling overwhelmed is a natural part of the artist’s experience, which is why it’s so important that you learn how to develop creative resilience.
